1880. Three hundred Italian peasants follow their dreams of a better life in the South Pacific. They join an expedition to establish a utopian colony, lured by the promise of liberty and wealth.

Their journey across the world delivers them to the remote jungles of New Guinea, where the dream disintegrates into a feverish nightmare of tropical diseases, starvation, and violence.

As supplies dwindle, survival seems impossible.
